Most trips are 30-45 minutes apart by metro or taxi, so picking 'wrong' isn't fatal — it just changes your daily commute.
Dubai is a genuinely easy city to get wrong on your first booking, not because any area is bad, but because the skyline photos all look the same from a search results page. Downtown is not Marina, and Marina is not Jumeirah — each has a completely different rhythm, price point, and 'walk out the door and do what' answer. Everyone eyes the cheap July-August hotel rates and assumes the heat is just something to push through with a poolside cocktail in hand. The UAE's own government disagrees: by federal law, all outdoor manual labor is banned from 12:30pm to 3pm every day from June 15 to September 15 — a rule now enforced for 22 straight summers because midday sun at that point in the year is officially hazardous, not just uncomfortable.
