Day trips from Koh Samui
- Koh Phangan's Full Moon Party — the famous beach party on Haad Rin beach, held monthly around the full moon; ferries run frequently for day-trippers who don't want to stay overnight.
- Koh Tao diving — widely considered the cheapest place in the world to get PADI-certified, with excellent visibility; day trips or multi-day courses both run from Samui.
- Ang Thong Marine Park — a cluster of dramatic limestone islands, best seen on a full-day boat tour with kayaking and a viewpoint hike.

The Gulf coast (Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao) has a different dry season than the Andaman coast (Phuket, Krabi) — roughly December through September, with the rainiest window around October–November. Booking Koh Samui using Phuket's seasonal calendar is a common and avoidable mistake.
