7 Days in Saudi Arabia — A Realistic Itinerary
Seven days is enough for a genuinely great first trip, not everything, but the essentials: 2 nights in Riyadh (with a Diriyah day trip), 2 nights in AlUla for Hegra, and 3 nights in Jeddah for Al-Balad and the Red Sea, linked by short domestic flights under 2 hours each. It's a fast pace with two hotel changes; if you can stretch to 10 days, do — but 7 genuinely works if that's what you have.

Here's a real, tested-shape answer, plus an easier alternative if three hotel changes in seven days sounds like too much.
Should you really try three stops in seven days?
It's a legitimately tight pace, and worth saying plainly: this itinerary has you changing hotels twice and taking two domestic flights inside a week. If you'd rather move slower, skip ahead to the one-city-plus-AlUla alternative below. If you want to see the country's three headline experiences (a modern capital, Hegra, and a historic Red Sea city) in one trip and only have seven days, this is the realistic way to do it.

Book your AlUla flights (both legs) as early as you can — AlUla's own airport schedule is still expanding year over year, and the routes that exist can sell out in the busy October–March season faster than Riyadh or Jeddah's own domestic routes do.
What this itinerary skips, and whether that's okay
- The Red Sea Project's private-island resorts — a genuinely different, multi-night splurge trip in its own right, not a bolt-on to a 7-day loop.
- Abha and the Asir Mountains — a separate southern region with its own flight connections; worth its own dedicated trip rather than squeezing it in here.
- Taif — an easy half-day add if you're driving between Jeddah and Mecca-adjacent routes, but it doesn't fit cleanly into this particular loop without adding a day.
A slower alternative: one city plus AlUla
If two hotel changes and two flights in a week sounds like too much motion, drop one city entirely: 3–4 nights in Riyadh (with Diriyah and the Edge of the World) plus 3–4 nights in AlUla, or the same shape with Jeddah instead of Riyadh, covers the same headline experiences at a genuinely more relaxed pace, with only one flight each way.

Mistakes that wreck a 7-day Saudi itinerary
- Not pre-booking the Hegra tour — it's guide-only, and slots genuinely sell out in peak season.
- Booking domestic flights with tight connection windows — build in at least a 2-3 hour buffer between an arriving international flight and a same-day domestic leg.
- Trying to squeeze in a fourth stop (Abha, Taif, or the Red Sea resorts) — seven days already has almost no slack; adding a fourth region usually means rushing all of them.
