7 Days in Cyprus: The Perfect Itinerary
A week in Cyprus works best as: 1 night in Larnaca on arrival, 3-4 nights in Paphos (history, mosaics, Aphrodite's Rock, a Blue Lagoon boat trip), 1 night in the Troodos Mountains (Kykkos Monastery, a wine village), and the remaining time on the southeast beaches (Ayia Napa or Protaras) before flying home from Larnaca. It avoids the classic mistake of trying to circle the whole island in a week.
Cyprus is small enough that a lot of itineraries try to cram in every corner of the island in a week, which mostly just means a lot of time in the rental car and not enough at any single place. Here's a version that actually breathes.

Why this order, not another one
This route runs roughly west-then-back-east rather than zigzagging: Larnaca and Paphos are both viable arrival/departure airports, so this plan uses Larnaca for both ends and treats Paphos, the Troodos, and the southeast beaches as one continuous loop rather than backtracking. If you're flying into Paphos instead, just run the whole plan in reverse.
What to cut if you only have 5 days
- Drop the Troodos Mountains night and do it as a single long day trip from Paphos instead — you'll miss staying overnight in a mountain village, but you'll still see Kykkos Monastery and a wine village.
- Pick one beach town (Ayia Napa or Protaras), not both — they're 15 minutes apart, so this barely costs you anything.
- Cut Larnaca to a half-day between flights rather than a full overnight, if your flight timing allows it.
What to add if you have 10-14 days
- A second night in the Troodos to explore more painted churches and villages at an unhurried pace.
- A day trip to Nicosia, including a crossing into North Nicosia for the Selimiye Mosque and Büyük Han.
- Limassol as its own 2-night base between Paphos and the Troodos, for Kourion, Kolossi Castle, and the city's own Old Town and marina.
Book your rental car for the whole week rather than picking it up partway through — Cyprus's small size means you'll want wheels from day one, and one-way drop-off between Larnaca and Paphos airports (if you fly in one and out the other) is often cheaper than it sounds.
A realistic 7-day budget

Mistakes this itinerary avoids
- Trying to see Kyrenia or the whole north coast on a 7-day trip — crossing the Green Line and back is genuinely worth doing, but it eats most of a day and competes hard with everything else on this list; save it for a longer trip or a dedicated return visit.
- Booking one hotel for the whole week and day-tripping everywhere from it — Cyprus's small size makes this tempting, but you'll spend more time in the car than the destinations actually justify.
- Skipping the Troodos entirely because it's inland — it's the single biggest 'why didn't more people tell me about this' moment on the island.
