The special Phu Quoc visa rule

Mistakes worth avoiding
- Booking only Long Beach without a day trip elsewhere — Sao Beach and the An Thoi Islands are a short taxi or boat away and genuinely worth the detour for clearer water.
- Assuming Phu Quoc has the same nightlife as Ho Chi Minh City — it's a much quieter, earlier-to-bed island; go in expecting relaxation, not a big night scene.
- Skipping sun protection because it 'doesn't feel that hot' by the water — the tropical sun here burns fast, especially on boat trips with reflected glare.
